The proposed Canadian Settlement addresses the data security incident for affected Canadian consumers who were customers of 23andMe between May 1, 2023, and October 1, 2023, resided in Canada, and received a notice from 23andMe confirming their personal information was compromised.

The gross settlement amount is US$3.25 million (approximately C$4.49 million). Eligible individuals may receive compensation via two types of claims:

1. Eligible Extraordinary Claims: Reimbursement of up to CA$2,500 for specific documented, unreimbursed, out-of-pocket expenses incurred a direct result of, and in response to, the Cyber Security Incident.
2. Eligible Ordinary Claims: A pro-rated share requiring no documentation.
